The late Wilbur H. Morrison was a public relations manager with Douglas Aircraft Company and Lockheed-California Company, and an Air Force lieutenant colonel. He was born in 1915 and was a news commentator for 15 years before and after World War II. During the war he flew 500 combat hours during 38 missions, which earned him 14 awards and decorations. Morrison began working for Douglas Aircraft in 1954, a turbulent time for the company as it shifted into the design and manufacture of jet aircraft and rockets. Morrison retired to Fallbrook, California where he devoted all his time to writing, and subsequently authored eight books, one of which is an autobiographical account of his time in the Pacific entitled Birds From Hell: A History of the B-29.
