Release Notes:

• Fixed a bug where the study sessions database was becoming corrupted, resulting in a crash.
• Added code to salvage a study session database corrupted by the previously mentioned bug.
• Added a database release date to the choose quiz window.
• Added 06-2008 databases and a few missing figures.
• Fixed a bug where the searching the explanation field in QuizMaker was not returning correct results.
• Fixed some dpi-related problems for computers running at non-standard dpis.

None of your current study sessions or performance history will be affected by this update (you will not lose any of your progress by installing this update).

To install (Windows):

1. Download the 'prepware_school_v9 update' or 'prepware_v9 update' file, as appropriate to your hard drive.
2. Close Prepware if it is running.  Double-click on the file. If you are using Windows XP, you will start the XP unzipping wizard. Otherwise, you will need an unzipping utility to extract the updater ('prepware_9_03_updater_win.exe').  In either case, follow the prompts to extract the updater to your choice of location on your computer. 
3. After the 'prepware_9_03_updater.exe' file havs been extracted to your computer, navigate to it and double-click on it.
4. You will see a screen prompting you to update. Select this. You will then get a prompt stating that Prepware has been updated.
5. Run Prepware; you can confirm your software has been updated by noting
"version 9.03" in the bottom right corner of the main menu. You will also see a 'DB Release' date of '06-2008' that confirms that you have the latest test questions.

You may continue to use the program's Auto Update function (from the top toolbar menu select Help/Check for Updates) to ensure you are working with the most recent information for the test questions, answers, and explanations. This Auto Update function will provide you with any changes made to the FAA Knowledge Exams.

Prepware 9.02 Installer for Windows Vista

To download/install, we recommend the following procedure:

• Right-Click on the file below and select 'Save Target As' (Internet Explorer 6 & 7). Save the 'install_prepware_9_vista.exe' file to your choice of location, i.e., your desktop or in 'My Documents'. Close your browser and any other running appliations.
• If you have the 'Run' command shown on your start menu, use this to browse to the location where you saved the file. Select the file and click on 'Open'. This will close the 'browse' window and insert the command back in the original 'Run' window. Click on 'OK'. The Prepware installation will start.
• If you do not use Windows 'Run' command, navigate manually to the 'install_prepware_9_vista.exe' file and double-click on it to initiate the installation procedure.
• Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.

Prepware 9.02 for Windows Vista - 116MB

*As an alternative download procedure, mainly intended for dial-up users, you can download the installer in parts. Each part is 16MB (with the exception of the last one which is 1.63MB) and there is a small installer file that will combine them all together after downloading. If you use this method, ensure that you download all 9 parts. Use the following instructions to download and install. You may also download the instructions for off-line use (right-click on the 'readme' file and select 'Save Target As').

• Create a folder on your computer where you can download the files. All nine files must be downloaded to the same location. Select each file and download it to the folder you created in the previous step. Ensure that you download ALL 9 parts. The first 8 parts are called 'prepware_9_vista' and are numbered parts 1-8. The last file is called 'prepware_9_install.exe'
• After all files (9) have been downloaded to the folder you created, close your broswer and navigate to this folder location. We recommend you use the Windows 'Run' command to do this. Select 'Start/Run' and then click on the 'Browse' button to locate your folder.
• Once in your folder, locate the file called 'install_prepware_9_vista.exe.bat'. Click on it to select this file, and select 'Open'. The 'Browse' window will close and you will be returned to the 'Run' box with the command shown in the 'Run' box. Click on 'OK'.
• A DOS box will open showing the process of combining the files together. You will see al 8 parts being combined. When complete, the DOS window will automatically close.
• Navigate back to the folder where you saved the files (using the Windows 'Run' command), and you will now see the large 116MB installer called 'install_prepware_9_vista'. Select it, select 'Open' and then it will show in the 'Run' box. Select 'OK' to initiate the installation process. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the program.
