Burke Mees is an accomplished instructor of almost seventy seaplane students, currently living in Anchorage, Alaska. He has been flying seaplanes since 1991, and has been employed teaching a seaplane course in the Sierra Nevada foothills, and flying seaplanes commercially year-round in Southeast Alaska and in the Aleutian Islands. His book, Notes of a Seaplane Instructor is a distillation of all the tips, techniques and insights he gathered during that time.
Throughout his career in this wide range of environments, Burke has developed a talent for explaining the finer points of seaplane flying. As an instructor and a check airman, he has learned what topics are most relevant, and how to best explain them. Burke is a regular contributer to Water Flying magazine, and other publications.
